Discipline Policy

The daily preschool experience includes opportunities for the children to grow in areas of self-control, cooperation, and sharing. Discipline is approached in a positive, understanding manner. If a child breaks a classroom rule, represents danger to self or others, or interferes with the ability of classmates to learn or participate, appropriate measures will be taken by his or her teacher to halt such behavior. Children will be encouraged to redirect their actions into constructive play and work activities or be given a short time out away from the group (not to exceed 1 minute per age). If a child is involved in a situation that is potentially dangerous, the child will be physically removed from the situation.

Communication with parents is vitally important in these minor discipline problems. We feel the safety of the children is very important, and we reserve the right to dismiss any child who is physically endangering others. Please feel free to ask if you have concerns about your child's behavior. The director and the teachers are always available for comments.

If a child injuries another child (such as biting, scratching, pinching , etc) a teacher will determine if a parent of each child needs to be called. If the misbehavior continues that same day, a parent will be notified to pick up the child. If the inappropriate action continues week after a week, the child may be asked to withdraw until the problem is corrected. A parent may discuss his options with the teachers or school director at any time.
